   The only builder our non-developers finished on

   We seat two non-technical testers on every brief. On Base44 both completed the staff rota tool without assistance, which happened nowhere else in this index. Nothing to install, no keys to paste, no deploy step to understand. That is a real achievement and we score it accordingly. Our reservation is recorded in the dissent: the price of that smoothness is that the runtime, the database and the auth all belong to the vendor, and a business putting a core process here is carrying an unpriced migration risk.

2. Emergent13 August 2026

   Plans like a lead, ships like a coin flip

   I read every plan Emergent produced across eighteen runs and several were better than what I would have written: correct sequencing, sensible interface boundaries, explicit assumptions listed up front. Then execution diverged. The same brief scored 4 out of 5 on one run and 2 out of 5 on the next, and the low runs failed quietly, producing code that looked right and did not work. Three stars is a statement about variance, not about ambition. Watch this one.
