App Builder Index

About

An independent publication about AI app builders

App Builder Index reviews and star rates the tools that turn a written description into working software. We launched in 2026 with eleven builders and the index now covers thirty-seven, each scored out of five on ten weighted axes against six fixed briefs.

We are independent. We buy our own subscriptions at list price, we test on paid plans, no vendor sees a score before publication, and there is no arrangement under which a tool can pay to move up the index. We do not sell placements or sponsored positions. We do not currently run affiliate links, and if that changes the disclosure will appear on how we review and on every affected page first.

Our launch ratings were produced by our own testing panel rather than by public user reviews, and every one of those entries carries an Editor panel badge. That disclosure is written out in full in the methodology, because a review publication that hides where its numbers came from is not worth reading.

We publish the whole dataset behind the ratings under a CC BY 4.0 licence so it can be checked, cited and argued with. Corrections go to editorial@app-builder-index.com; quote the sentence you think is wrong and we will either fix it or explain why we are keeping it.
